Browsing Ukrainian portals I’ve noticed that there are a lot of articles and digests for the coworking spaces in Ukraine. So I decided not to just put another one but ask the founders of Top-5 (in my humble opinion) coworking spaces in Kyiv just 3 simple questions:

  1. What inspired you to create this space?
  2. What is the mission of your coworking?
  3. Indicate quantity of places and describe the atmosphere in your space just in 5 words.

What I believe is that this questions will help individuals and teams to choose the appropriate space with the unrepeatable atmosphere and run their businesses in the most efficient way whether it is an individual worker or company.
So here we go!

Platforma

Inspiration

Refael: “I like to see people creating the place where they can see each other and collaborate and their achievements are something that inspires me to come here and to open new spaces. And of course building community. We opened our space when Ukraine was in a really depressed situation. And we wanted to create the space where people can feel secure and have easy access to start doing something valuable. There are already a lot of people here like ministers, venture funds and it inspire even more.”
Kate: “It was my personal need of the appropriate space and it was quite a big challenge because there were only 2 of us in the very beginning. And the third piece of motivation was that when we started our space we saw people growing their companies so fast and it was really inspiring”.

Mission

Kate: “It is my country, I live here and I wanted to show that everything is possible. So this is a live example of brave people who just decided to do something instead of just sitting and saying that it is so difficult to do something in our country. Our social mission that this place is bubbling because there are so many things you can do instead of just seating.”
Refael: “We aimed to raise community and increase chances of people to succeed in their business because for us it means happiness. For them it means happiness. Once you love something and you succeed in doing it this is a kind of soul fulfillment. So, in short, our mission is to create happy people”.

“That was really tough for me to find a cool place for myself where I can work, meet cool people and organize great events. So it all started with the thing that I wanted to create a place where I want to work and 5 years later here we are.”

Mission

“Help young entrepreneurs and startups to get off the ground in Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. It is super important to be on your own when you start a business. So iHub’s mission is to popularize entrepreneurship where I believe we are pretty successful in last 3-4 years. And dismiss the common myth that to create something cool you need to move somewhere in San Fransisco or New York. There it is also possible! And now I believe that many people realize that building companies in Ukraine are more interesting. So our mission is to create the environment for people where they can evolve, learn, train each other and it attracts even more interesting people.”

Creative Quarter

10Founders: Ilia Kenigshtein & Roman Khmil.

Inspiration

“What we are offering is not the offices with the cool design but the access to the internal community and unique ecosystem which is closed from the outside but open inside which the right community should be. Moreover, there should be entrance criteria for such a community and in our case, besides obviously the price, there is the business which you are doing, the way you are going. […] Taking care is not the biggest value for the company but growth, product, marketing and development are. We take care of everything else. As the result, the companies which want to grow rapidly are coming to our space.”

Mission

“Warp your business with us. This is the name of the engine of the Enterprise spaceship from Star Trek motion movie dearly loved by IT community. Warp means distortion. With the help of this engine, all the spaceships from the Startrack universe got to the stars in minutes. So we are acting as a launchpad for the companies, we are distorting the existing reality and launch them with the help of the warp which means that you save your managers’ energy, CAPEX and put these efforts into your business development.”

HUB 4.0

B_5D1446_hdr.jpgFounder: Valerii Omelchenko.

Inspiration

“It all started with the idea of creating a space for the development of Ukrainian youth. Together with the team, we thought about what should be the site where it would be possible to create high technologies, attend topical educational programs, promote Ukrainian start-ups. So in December 2015 there was HUB 4.0.
From the first days, we have an Innovation Gallery – a platform where Ukrainian developers and makers present their projects for free. For 2 years, submitted more than 40 projects. Including world-famous Petcube, iBlazr, SolarGaps. We have something to be proud of, and we try to tell all our visitors about this. And this is not much, not little, about 17 thousand people in the peak months.
The growing freelance market creates demand for creative spaces, and coworking as a new approach to the organization of the work process has long bypassed the usual offices. At some time, HUB 4.0 struggled to accommodate everyone. Therefore, in 2018 we started with the opening of the fourth floor.

Mission

At the core of ideology, and this is reflected in the name of space, – Industry 4.0. Briefly, this is a transition to fully automated production, in which man is a creator. These are the words of WEF President Klaus Schwab. And this is not a forecast, but a future that is coming right now not only in Germany or the US. Ukraine is even ahead of its nearest neighbors. The mission of HUB 4.0 is to unite around this concept, progressive entrepreneurs, and IT professionals. HUB 4.0 is an active participant in the association of “Industry 4.0 in Ukraine”, together we are actively working on this.
