Job Description for Applied Data Science Associate - Federal at DataRobot:
- DataRobot delivers AI to maximize impact and minimize business risk, integrating AI into core business processes.
- The Applied Data Science Associate (ADSA) program is a 6-month intensive training to become a Customer Facing Data Scientist.
- The program focuses on AI/ML and Generative AI, with structured learning and mentoring alongside customer success teams.
- Core competencies developed: Data Science (including GenAI), Product Knowledge, Sales, and Solution Delivery.
- Role supports US Federal customers, especially military, in diverse AI use cases.
- Post-program responsibilities include supporting federal customers in end-to-end AI project implementation: data preparation, model building (predictive and generative), application development, stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete 6-month training to independently support customer engagements.
- Provide platform and data science support from presales through customer lifecycle.
- Help customers solve complex data science problems using DataRobot (problem framing, data prep, scripting, model building/deployment/management).
- Promote autonomy in identifying/prioritizing customer problems.
- Influence customers with value-based messaging translating technical terms into mission outcomes.
- Collaborate with sales, success, engineering teams to achieve customer goals.
- Identify opportunities to expand customer relationships.
- Represent customer voice internally to Product and Engineering teams.
- Assist in developing Joint Success Plans delivering AI journey services.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field (physical sciences, engineering, computer science, statistics, economics or business analytics).
- 3+ years experience building/implementing analytics solutions for stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Fluency in Python scripting.
- Experience building data pipelines or performing data preparation tasks.
- Hybrid work location: remote and on-site (greater Washington DC area).
- Possible travel for meetings/events.
Nice to Have:
- Advanced degree.
- Experience supporting US Federal government organizations (DoD or IC).
- Experience with distributed/parallelized data computation.
- Experience with geospatial data manipulation/visualization.
- Exposure to AI/ML modeling techniques and project framing.
- Familiarity with consultative sales process in data/analytics marketplace.
- Familiarity with data platform technology integrations.
- Experience dealing with complex customer organizations.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages (Java, Scala, JavaScript).
Citizenship and Clearance Requirements:
- Must be US citizen.
- Must have active Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.
