About Probably Genetic

Probably Genetic is changing the lives of patients living with severe, complex diseases. Our data platform is used by drug developers and patient advocacy groups to develop and launch treatments for these patients. Our technology discovers undiagnosed patients online, analyzes their disease state using machine learning and at-home testing, and enables compliant communication with patients. In doing so, we help patients access diagnoses, clinical trials, and treatments as early as possible. We are a tight-knit group of hard-working, ambitious problem solvers united by a mission greater than ourselves. We do well by doing right by patients. We are developing some of the most cutting-edge solutions in healthcare, and our roadmap is packed with innovations in bioinformatics, AI, and drug development. We have built a lean, all-star team to help us bring our vision to life, and we want you to be a part of it. Probably Genetic has raised multiple rounds of funding from Silicon Valley’s best investors, including Threshold, Khosla, and Y Combinator, and offer competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and meaningful early stage equity.

About the role

We are at an inflection point. With a Series B on the horizon and a growing portfolio of partnerships with drug developers and patient advocacy groups, we need a Chief of Staff who can operate as a true right hand to the Founder and CEO — someone who runs toward complexity, brings structure to ambiguity, and holds the highest standards of craft and detail. You will own high-stakes initiatives, manage venture fundraising end-to-end alongside the CEO, and serve as a force multiplier across the leadership team. If you have thrived in fast-moving, dynamic environments and want your work to directly improve patient outcomes, this is the role for you.

What you will do

Venture fundraising & existing investor relations (20%)

  • Own the end-to-end venture fundraising due diligence: materials, data room, investor outreach, pipeline management, and follow-through
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination between the CEO and prospective and existing investors
  • Prepare board meeting materials, manage the board cadence, and ensure follow-ups are tracked and closed
  • Draft investor updates, pitch narratives, and other strategic communications with precision and clarity

CEO leverage, strategic thought partnership & cross-functional execution (40%)

  • Reduce CEO time on operational overhead by 30%+ by owning recurring processes, decision tracking, and stakeholder communication
  • Lead cross-functional projects that span multiple teams, ensuring clarity of ownership, timelines, and outcomes
  • Identify bottlenecks across the organization and build scalable processes to address them before they become problems
  • Prepare the CEO for key meetings with background briefs, talking points, and follow-up documentation

Strategic external communications (40%)

  • Own end to end preparation and execution for quarterly board meetings and mid-quarter check-ins
  • Draft external communications on behalf of the CEO, including company-wide updates, partner communications, and thought leadership via a variety of social channels
  • Ensure data and messaging is consistent and reflects the company's mission and values by creating a consistent framework for use by CEO and broader Leadership Team

Who you are

We are looking for a few specific things that will help you succeed in this role:

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Strong foundation in management consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain or equivalent)
  • Subsequent operating experience at a high-growth startup
  • Prior experience supporting or managing a fundraising process (Series A>D ideally)
  • Demonstrated understanding of investor relations and venture dynamics
  • Track record of operating at the intersection of strategy and execution — comfortable in boardroom as well as building processes from scratch
  • Experience in healthtech or biotech or track record operating in highly complex industries
  • Meticulous attention to detail — catch errors others miss; hold every output to an exceptionally high standard
  • Proven AI literacy — actively use AI tools beyond prompting in daily workflow; can lead others similarly
  • Exceptional written communication — write with clarity, economy & impact
  • Skilled at managing multiple shifting priorities without dropping the ball; thrive in dynamic environments where roadmap changes week to week
  • High emotional intelligence & leadership presence — know when to push/listen/build trust quickly
  • Collaborative low-ego operating style — care about outcomes not credit

Additional qualities:

  • A good person with empathy working with marginalized populations
  • Patient-focused & motivated to have lasting positive impact on humanity
  • Comfortable in fast-paced ambiguous environment with rapid change
  • Action-oriented & excited to build company from ground up

What we offer at Probably Genetic:

  • Engaging supportive team on mission to improve lives
  • Fair equitable compensation with competitive early-stage equity grants
  • Generous Flexible Time off policy actually used
  • Parental Leave Benefits (12 weeks for both birthing & non-birthing)
  • Hybrid flexible work with high-trust & autonomy
  • Bright inviting pet-friendly office in Downtown SF near transit
  • Company-sponsored team lunch every Thursday
  • “Work from anywhere” policy up to 4 weeks/year
  • Regular team retreats in exciting destinations
  • Health Benefits including medical/dental/vision/therapy/FSA/401k
