Creative Director

Location: Remote – North America aligned (Open to applicants located in US aligned time zones) Fueled is a leading digital strategy, design, and engineering agency. United with 10up, now the brand behind our content and publishing practice, we are a 300+ person team that has designed and built hundreds of digital products and experiences for brands like Google, Apple, The New York Times, ESPN, Victoria’s Secret, MGM Resorts, Albertsons, and CLEAR. As a Creative Director on Fueled's content and publishing team, you will shape the creative vision and design quality of impactful content-driven web experiences for a team that values craft, strategy, and innovation in equal measure. Intentionally remote and globally distributed across six continents, our team thrives in a culture that values flexibility, creativity, and cutting-edge technology. Together, we’re shaping the future of digital experiences. What you will do:

  • Own the creative and strategic vision across content and publishing projects, ensuring design decisions are grounded in user needs, business objectives, and exceptional visual craft.
  • Lead and elevate the visual expression of client brands across digital experiences, ensuring a distinctive, high-craft aesthetic that differentiates our work in the market.
  • Partner directly with clients to understand their goals, co-create solutions, and confidently present work in pitches and reviews.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops and guide design processes that turn insights and feedback into refined, high-impact outcomes.
  • Unite cross-functional teams (UX, engineering, design, and content strategy) with strong communication and adaptability in a fast-paced, remote agency environment.
  • Push creative boundaries through thoughtful experimentation and innovative editorial and digital storytelling.
  • Serve as the most senior leader of Fueled's Visual and User Experience Design functions within its Content and Digital Publishing-focused practice area,

responsible for both elevation of craft and day-to-day agency business needs like staffing and hiring. What you will achieve:

  • Guide a collaborative design team that works alongside cross-functional peers to successfully launch dozens of content-driven experiences each year that drive measurable growth in engagement,

conversions, or revenue.

  • Champion a standard of creativity and quality excellence that positions Fueled as a design-forward agency,

producing work that earns award recognition, press features, and standout client testimonials.

  • Contribute to new business growth by shaping creative direction in pitches,

increasing win rates, expanding long-term client partnerships.

  • Advance scalable design systems and creative processes that improve team efficiency

reduce rework.

  • Lead and mentor designers to raise the bar on craft,

strengthen team culture, develop future creative leaders. About you:

  • You have 8+ years in product design with a portfolio that demonstrates range — from UX strategy

research synthesis to visually exceptional, high-craft execution.

  • You have experience designing enterprise-level digital products in content publishing,

e-commerce, or SaaS environments.

  • You are fluent across visual design,

UX, research, lead with strong creative instinct while maintaining an uncompromising eye for detail.

  • You have a strong perspective on processes,

systems, philosophies that help differentiate "good" visual & UX design work from "great" in an agency environment.

  • You have experience building modular design systems & working within CMS platforms such as WordPress,

Sanity, Webflow.

  • You mentor & grow designers at all levels,

elevating both individual capability & overall team quality.

  • You bring additional creative range — illustration,

motion design, branding/identity or print experience is a plus.

  • You have experience building & scaling visual design & UX teams in an agency environment: defining team culture,

establishing & standardizing best practices & implementing systems improving consistency & scalability of creative output.

  • You have track record helping elevate an agency's positioning as premium design partner through collaboration with marketing on brand & positioning or direct thought leadership or both.
