Detection Engineer

Team:

• Information Security team focused on securing products with automation, collaboration, and safety by design.
• Mission: Ensure safety of core product platforms, enterprise, and manage threats.

Role Overview:

• Title: Detection Engineer
• Responsibilities:
• Design security alerts and automated response playbooks.
• Monitor and defend corporate and product infrastructure.
• Participate actively in Incident Response.
• Locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus, Austin, NYC
• Time zone: East/West coast time zones
• Travel: Mostly remote work; occasional in-person onsite meetings once or twice per quarter for 2-4 days.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design/build alerts and automated response playbooks.
• Collaborate with system owners to ingest new log feeds for security monitoring.
• Build automated testing for detection methods.
• Develop integrations between SOAR tool and APIs.
• Frontline Incident Response involvement.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

• 1+ years in Detection Engineering or Incident Response role.
• Assume breach mindset; thorough investigation skills.
• Strong log query skills (Log-fu).
• Intermediate proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python).
• Strong git skills.

Preferred:

• AWS experience & Infrastructure as Code management.
• OSX Endpoint Investigation experience.
• Internal Application Development experience.
• SaaS Application security experience.
• Experience in high-security environments.
• Experience managing Threat Intelligence.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base salary range (US Remote): $111,900—$155,000 USD (varies by location).
• Additional compensation: target bonuses, equity compensation.
