About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Data to lead and grow our nascent Data Team. This is a critical hybrid role, requiring a deep technical expert who can not only Individual Contributor but also set the strategic vision for the department's data capabilities and lead the team's growth. Candidates will report directly to the Director of Engineering and will be instrumental in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive business strategy and product development. Tech Stack: SQL, Python/R | Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt | Tableau, Power BI, Looker Responsibilities

Individual Contributor & Technical Execution

• Advanced Analytics: Directly execute complex end-to-end data science projects, including statistical modeling, machine learning, and predictive analysis.
• Data Infrastructure: Partner with Engineering/IT to define requirements for and, where necessary, personally build and maintain robust data pipelines, data marts, and analytics tools to support the team's work.
• Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce technical best practices, code review standards, and documentation guidelines to ensure the reliability and reproducibility of all data products.

Leadership & Team Development

• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor our existing Data Analyst, providing regular coaching, setting performance goals, and facilitating career development.
• Hiring & Growth: Play a primary role in recruiting, interviewing,and onboarding new talent as the data team scales.
• Knowledge Transfer: Promote a culture of data literacy and continuous learning within the Data Team and across the organization.

Strategy & Project Management

• Strategic Vision: Define and articulate a compelling data strategy and roadmap for the department over the next 1-3 years , aligning data initiatives directly with company OKRsand business needs.
• Project Management: Act as the technical Product Owner for the Data Team's backlog.Managethe end-to-end lifecycleof all data projects , ensuring timely delivery , managing scope ,and communicating progress to stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with executive leadershipand cross-functional teams (Product , Marketing , Operations)to identify high-impact analytical opportunitiesand translate ambiguous business questions into testable data hypothesesand clear deliverables.
• Data Governance: Establish foundational principles for datagovernance , integrity , privacy ,and security withinthe department.

Qualifications

• 5+ yearsof progressive experience in Data Science ,Data Analysis ,or a related quantitative field.
• Expert proficiencyin SQL anda programming language commonly used in data science (e.g., Python or R).
• Demonstrated experience designingand implementing statistical models , machine learning models,and large-scale data analyses.
• Familiarity with moderndata warehousingand ETL concepts (e.g., Snowflake , BigQuery , DBT).
• Strong experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau , Power BI , Looker).
• 2+ yearsof formal or informal experience leading projects , mentoring junior analysts/scientists , or functioning as a technical lead.
• Exceptional communicationand presentation skills ,withthe abilityto articulate complex analytical findings to both highly technicaland executive audiences.
• Proven abilityto take ownershipof an ambiguous problem space , definea clear strategy,and managethe executionof that strategy independently.
