This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As the Director of Equipment Maintenance, you will lead strategic equipment maintenance operations across the whole company, ensuring the organization operates with optimal functionality and efficiency. Your leadership will drive the improvement of operational performance, cost efficiency, and safety standards across the maintenance organization while aligning with company goals. You will work with operations, automation engineering, reliability engineering, and equipment partners across Blue Origin to ensure our equipment runs at peak efficiency, maximum availability, and be instrumental to implementing Blue's manufacturing equipment strategy! Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data-driven equipment maintenance strategies and procedures to enhance performance, longevity, and reliability of automated equipment.
- Oversee the management of all maintenance schedules, ensuring timely and effective execution, measured against clearly defined metrics for success.
- Collaborate with reliability engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot and permanently resolve equipment issues.
- Develop and champion emerging technologies, such as AI (deep learning, LLMs), IoT, and sophisticated analytics to enhance day-to-day maintenance functions - accelerating the team.
- Manage the maintenance budgets, working with maintenance managers to optimize resource allocation and reducing unnecessary expenditures.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits of equipment performance, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance across all maintenance activities.
- Foster innovation and continuous improvement in maintenance processes through the adoption of the latest technologies and practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in equipment maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and practices.
- Experience with, and validated implementation in an industrial setting of Artificial Intelligence to accelerate maintenance functions.
- Proven track record of improving equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
- Certification in Maintenance Management or Reliability Engineering.
- Proficiency in maintenance software and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale projects and cross-functional teams.
