What you'll be doing

Technology

• Share technical authority with Staff Engineer.
• Hands-on coding: code review, prototyping, critical paths contribution.
• Maintain code quality and review standards.
• Own code health of domain.

Delivery

• Own squad's roadmap execution quarterly.
• Run sprint planning, unblock engineers daily.
• Prepare for biweekly product demos and decide presenters.
• Primary engineering contact for Product: scope features, communicate trade-offs, align priorities.

Production

• Own production health: monitor dashboards (Grafana, Sentry), respond to alerts, resolve incidents.
• Triage and resolve customer issues within SLA in coordination with Customer Success.
• Monitor and address CVEs and security vulnerabilities.

People

• Coordinate squad of up to 10 engineers.
• Run operational 1:1s, give feedback, flag performance signals to Head of Engineering.
• Coordinate onboarding of new members.

Process

• Define and adjust squad ways of working balancing agility and discipline.
• Drive engineering excellence: track DORA metrics, reduce cycle time, raise quality bar.

Requirements

• 8+ years software engineering experience (ideally 2/3+ years in Squad or Tech Lead role).
• Strong backend systems and production environment command.
• Proven track record shipping reliable high-quality software in fast-moving product company.
• Comfortable with complex technical domains like distributed systems, APIs, data integrity.
• Strong written/verbal communication bridging engineering and product effectively.
• Experience owning production: incident response, monitoring,on-call duties,SLA ownership.

Nice to have

• Experience in billing fintech or usage-based pricing infrastructure.
• Familiarity with DORA metrics and engineering effectiveness frameworks.
• Background in open-source projects contributions or work experience.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar backend stack.
