Your Role and Responsibilities
The Field CTO role is a high-impact position passionate about executive-level engagement, field enablement, and strategic product feedback. As a Field CTO:
- Act as an extension of the CTO and CEO to strategically enable and support sales teams by building pipelines, closing opportunities, and maintaining long-term relationships with customer leadership teams.
- Serve as a trusted advisor providing business, technical, and organizational guidance and thought leadership to drive customer outcomes.
- Work closely with regional sales leadership focusing on top-priority accounts within the theater with significant pipeline impact.
- Be the technical leader and executive sponsor for key accounts; deeply understand the customer's technical landscape; articulate how HashiCorp's products drive their business success.
- Influence strategic direction for customer messaging through collaboration with Strategy team, R&D, broader field teams, and industry events.
- Showcase thought leadership and technical expertise through webinars, speaking events, round tables, white papers, marketing events, advisory boards, and executive briefings.
- Communicate effectively with varied audiences including C-level executives and internal product/engineering teams.
- Contribute to public/internal messaging of HashiCorp principles and tech vision.
- Enable internal teams and partners to elevate product narrative.
- Be regarded as a business and technical thought leader in IT/application operations landscape.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with field marketing teams to spread awareness and support pipeline building via round tables, workshops, conferences, strategic events, blogs, webinars, whitepapers.
- Aggregate/synthesize customer feedback on product messaging/pricing/capabilities; communicate findings internally (sales, marketing, R&D).
- Coordinate with regional sales team to establish relationships; act as technical lead/trusted advisor accelerating pipeline for strategic accounts.
- Understand customer's technical/people/process needs; articulate how HashiCorp products meet enterprise needs.
- Identify opportunities for product adoption/expansion/extension within accounts; communicate unified vision; collaborate through thought leadership.
- Provide feedback to product/marketing teams on customer needs/struggles ensuring proper future direction/success of products.
- Drive customer CISO/CxO engagements with field teams.
- Validate/contribute to technical materials/methodologies based on field experience to up-level internal partners.
- Lead executive briefings/advisory boards with customers/partners/prospects.
- Educate/mentor/promote up-skilling within sales/customer success teams on HashiCorp products through internal enablement.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Fluent in English
- Engineering/CS/MIS Bachelor’s Degree or military leadership position or 10+ years relevant experience
- History of executive engagement or served at executive level
- Comfortable speaking in front of crowds virtually (small to large)
- Well-rounded SME with technical depth in cloud automation, DevOps & security
- Recent industry experience & deep technical background in DevOps & infrastructure automation tooling
- High-level understanding of distributed computing architectures design principles
- Ability to interact/influence business decision-makers (CxO) & technical decision-makers within Global 2000 companies
- Experience leading or selling to large enterprise environments
- Ability to communicate value proposition of strategic/tactical solutions for complex enterprise use cases
- Participate in dynamic conversations around sales mechanics influencing key stakeholders positively
- Industry inspiring leader in customer meetings/public settings
- Stay close to industry trends for deeper product understanding
- Strong verbal/written/visual communication & presentation skills (comfortable on whiteboard)
- Willingness & ability to travel up to 50%
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
Any other European language is an advantage; specifically Nordic languages.
