Job Description for Full-Stack Applied AI Engineer at Very Big Things (via Bitovi):

• Role: Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer
• Location: Remote
• Employment Type: Full Time
• Level: Mid Level

Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end delivery of full-stack features from UI to backend to deployment.
• Ship real AI systems including RAG, tool-calling, agent workflows, structured prompting, evals, and guardrails.
• Prototype quickly and harden systems for security, reliability, and cost control.
• Use AI tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, or Copilot to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality.
• Make technical decisions on patterns, trade-offs, and scope boundaries independently.
• Collaborate closely with strategists, clients, and senior engineers.
• Light DevOps tasks such as configuring environments, CI/CD, secrets, and deployments with support as needed.

Requirements:

• 6+ years building production software across front-end and back-end.
• Hands-on Gen-AI experience in real products (not just experiments).
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
• Experience with modern stacks such as React/Next.js and Node.js (Nest, Express or similar).
• Knowledge of SQL databases (Postgres), caches, and vector stores.
• Ability to design secure production-grade systems including auth (RBAC), secrets management, auditability, and PII-aware data handling.
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure or Vercel) and CI/CD fundamentals.
• Clear communication skills for explaining trade-offs to non-engineers.
• Comfortable working embedded within a client team.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in retail, hospitality, logistics, healthcare or regulated environments.
• Prior consulting or agency delivery experience.
