About the role

Cursor is rapidly growing and aims to accelerate growth by building a highly performant customer acquisition machine and Marketing function. The role involves owning Marketing Finance end-to-end on the GTM Finance team, acting as the primary finance partner to Marketing leadership. Responsibilities include managing top-of-funnel and pipeline models, building ROI and efficiency frameworks, and collaborating cross-functionally with Data and Revenue Operations. Initially an individual contributor (IC) role with a clear path to building and leading a team. The position requires full-time presence in either the San Francisco or New York office.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with Marketing leadership on headcount and program spend management; serve as primary finance thought partner for decision-making and tradeoffs.
  • Own and improve top-of-funnel lead and pipeline models for planning and forecasting.
  • Build and deliver regular Marketing performance reports that provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with Data and Revenue Operations to design data models that measure key metrics and improve visibility into the Enterprise funnel.
  • Establish Marketing ROI and efficiency frameworks to guide resource allocation across channels, programs, and segments.
  • Build the Marketing Finance function by hiring, developing, and eventually leading a team as the scope grows.

You may be a fit if

  • You have owned part or all of a GTM Finance function end-to-end, ideally focused on Marketing Finance at a high-growth company, partnering directly with senior GTM leaders.
  • You have built top-of-funnel and pipeline models used for planning and forecasting that balance accuracy, simplicity, and usability.
  • You have strong experience with attribution, ROI, and efficiency frameworks used to drive resource allocation decisions in complex or unconventional unit economics environments.
  • You have worked closely with Data and RevOps teams to influence metrics definitions, data models, and reporting structures in cross-functional projects.
  • You are proactive ("high-slope" and "high-agency"), able to bring structure, clarity, and recommendations to complex ambiguous problems.
  • You produce outputs that drive business action rather than just reporting status; can provide examples of insights that changed business operations.
  • You are excited about building a team over time with a thoughtful approach to culture creation.

Work environment

  • In-person work at cozy offices located in North Beach (San Francisco) or Manhattan (New York).
  • Offices include well-stocked libraries.
