About the Head of Engineering role:

  • Full-time position reporting to co-founder and CEO.
  • Responsible for engineering roadmap, leading all software engineers.
  • Sets pace, culture, and technical vision for the team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate company goals into engineering strategy; make build-vs-buy and architectural decisions balancing speed and long-term leverage.
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor a diverse engineering team growing from 5 to 20+ engineers across full-stack, product, infrastructure disciplines.
  • Guide evolution of React / TypeScript / Rust / Ruby stack; oversee use of foundation models for coding and vision-language agents.
  • Own scalability, security, compliance for Fortune 500 data workloads.
  • Establish lightweight but effective processes for planning, code health, on-call, incident response to maintain quality while shipping daily.

Candidate essentials:

  • 10+ years professional software engineering experience; 3+ years managing multi-team orgs in high-growth startups or fast-growing teams.
  • Proven record scaling products from 0 → 1 → N in data-heavy domains.
  • Strong technical background in data-heavy applications and distributed systems.
  • Passion for on-site work in a fast-paced autonomous environment; able to juggle strategy and execution.
  • Track record building inclusive high-performance cultures attracting top talent.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience shipping AI/LLM-powered products or internal agents at scale.
  • Experience building customer-facing SDKs, APIs, or developer platforms.
  • Experience with large enterprises’ security/compliance requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA).
  • Fluency in data-integration, ETL or document-understanding problems.
