Head of Finance Systems & Automation - Job Description

About the Role

The Head of Financial Systems will own the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of Scale AI's finance technology stack. This role requires a builder-first leader who blends enterprise architecture with AI automation to eliminate manual workflows, tighten financial data fabric, and enable the Finance team to operate with speed and rigor. The person will be the primary technology partner to Finance leadership and accountable for the reliability, scalability, and intelligence of systems involved in financial close, revenue, and spend lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • ERP Ownership & Optimization: Manage full lifecycle of ERP environment (NetSuite or equivalent), including architecture, configuration, integrations, and roadmap. Support General Ledger, AP, AR, Procure-to-Pay, Fixed Assets, Revenue Recognition, Sales Audit, International Consolidations & Reporting.
  • Order-to-Cash & Procure-to-Pay: Drive process excellence across Order-to-Cash (Sales/Revenue Capture, Sales Audit, Billing) and Procure-to-Pay (Direct & Indirect Purchasing). Identify and close gaps between upstream systems and ERP through integration design.
  • AI Agent Deployment: Identify opportunities to replace manual finance workflows with AI/LLM-powered agents. Build/manage internal agents automating forecasting inputs, variance analysis, close task management, reconciliation.
  • Systems Integration & Data Architecture: Design scalable data flows/APIs connecting ERP to adjacent finance tools (billing, expense, FP&A, treasury) into an auditable ecosystem. Ensure clean data movement from source systems to general ledger/reporting.
  • Operational Excellence & Controls: Establish change management discipline, data governance, measurable SLAs across financial systems. Stabilize environments for audit readiness, SOX compliance, regulatory requirements.
  • Finance Stakeholder Partnership: Serve as primary technology partner to CFO, Controller, FP&A, Accounting teams. Translate technical constraints into business outcomes; align system roadmaps with Finance strategy.
  • Team Leadership: Build/lead a high-impact Finance Systems team fostering curiosity, speed, user-centricity.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years leading finance systems or enterprise application functions in fast-paced/high-growth environments.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of ERP platforms (NetSuite preferred) across GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets,

Revenue Recognition, Procure-to-Pay, Sales Audit, International Consolidations.

  • Strong understanding of Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay process design including upstream sales/procurement system touchpoints.
  • Strong understanding of SOX IT General controls with implementation experience.
  • Proven track record designing/deploying AI/LLM-powered workflows or agentic systems improving Finance efficiency.
  • Ability to design/govern scalable integrations/data flows across SaaS tools.
  • Experience influencing Finance leadership; translating technical complexity into business decisions.
  • Proficiency in iPaaS platforms (e.g., Workato preferred; Workato Certification is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Python or SQL for prototyping/auditing automation logic.
  • Familiarity with adjacent Finance tools: expense management,

FP&A platforms, billing systems, treasury tools.

Compensation

Base salary range for San Francisco location: $198,248,00 USD Compensation includes base salary, equity grants (subject to Board approval), benefits such as health/dental/vision coverage, retirement benefits, learning stipend and PTO. Additional benefits may include commuter stipend.
