Role:

• Build and ship features across Proton’s apps on iPhone.
• Work closely with product and engineers across the company.
• Codebase primarily Swift with some Go; moving to a platform-independent Rust logical core.
• Contribute to and maintain testing stack: unit tests, stubbed API tests, snapshot tests, XCUITest.
• Focus on simple, usable interfaces and privacy-preserving products.

Requirements:

• Experience in iOS development, particularly with Swift.
• Passion for mentoring engineers.
• Passionate about user interaction, usability, and excellent user experience.
• Experience driving change and leading complex technical projects.
• Extensive experience building maintainable/testable code bases, API design, unit testing.
• Extensive experience with concurrent programming and mobile memory management.
• Strong grasp of scalable software architecture and engineering best practices.
• Intuition for optimal user experience and design.
• Rust experience is a major plus but not required.
• Deep understanding of APNs, UNUserNotificationCenter, iOS background execution (silent pushes, background app refresh, background URLSession).
• Experience building offline-first data flows with local persistence (Core Data, SQLite, Realm or similar) and conflict-free sync.
