Legal Counsel
Location: Boston, Massachusetts; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; New York, New York; Atlanta, Georgia; Tampa, Florida; Orlando, Florida The Legal Counsel position is a remote, work-from-home role. Some travel is required for client meetings, internal meetings, conferences, and other events. Ideally this candidate would be in EST or CST.
The Role: Legal Counsel
Acceleration Partners has grown significantly with increasingly complex legal needs. The company has a global footprint spanning Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia and works with leading brands. With over 300 employees across multiple countries, they seek a full-time Legal Counsel to serve as the in-house legal resource across contracts and occasionally support compliance, data privacy, and HR matters. This role is a key legal partner providing practical, risk-balanced guidance while enabling commercial objectives across a globally distributed organization. Top 5 Job Responsibilities:
- Client Contracts:
Own the end-to-end client contract process. Draft, review, negotiate client services agreements balancing business and client needs. Ensure language is legally sound and aligned with company interests. Work with sales team on non-standard terms.
- Vendor Contracts:
Primary legal contact for vendor relationships. Review supplier agreements for compliance with company policies and regulations. Flag risks and recommend solutions. Ensure vendors meet data privacy/security standards including data processing and confidentiality obligations.
- Disputes and Legal Matters:
Handle low-level disputes/legal inquiries in normal business course. Provide practical guidance to internal teams for routine matters. Liaise with external counsel on complex issues. Draft/manage legal correspondence like demand letters or cease and desist notices. Significant litigation or high-risk disputes managed with external counsel.
- HR Legal Advisory:
Partner with People team advising on employment-related legal questions including compliance, policy questions, employee relations. Provide practical guidance balancing compliance with operational realities. Escalate complex or high-risk employment matters to external counsel as needed.
- Corporate Governance:
Support basic corporate governance across global entities including drafting company resolutions or coordinating entity management/filings with stakeholders and service providers. Additional responsibilities include contract oversight and record keeping: maintaining accurate records of contracts; monitoring timelines; managing renewals/extensions/close-outs; proofreading legal documents; communicating contract terms clearly to non-legal colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. degree and active bar membership (or retired in good standing).
- 8+ years of legal experience with depth in contract law.
- Prior in-house or agency/services industry experience preferred.
- Experience with data protection/privacy (GDPR, cross-border transfers, DPAs) strongly preferred.
- Employment/HR legal advisory experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills across functions.
- Comfortable with international contracts/multi-jurisdictional issues.
- Confident decision-maker knowing when to escalate.
What Success Looks Like:
Within 3 months: Full command of existing contract library/processes/active agreements; integrated into sales & people workflows; handling routine contracts independently. Within 6 months: Trusted legal resource managing all contracts; advising on disputes & HR matters without escalation; contributing to process improvements reducing risk & improving efficiency; proactive partner identifying risks & driving scalable solutions.
