About the role:

Samsara seeks a curious and motivated IT Manager to scale IT Services Management supporting 4,500+ employees. Responsibilities include coaching and developing the IT team; organizing operations; managing contracts and vendor relationships; developing systems; managing projects; and building processes for excellent customer experiences.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the IT Portfolio: Lead a team running all IT projects; own sprint planning across Core IT to prioritize urgent work.
  • Manage IT contracts:
  • Direct acquisition of software/hardware technology; negotiate purchase agreements and service contracts.
  • Manage end-to-end contract lifecycle with procurement partner.
  • Manage vendors & external partners:
  • Experience with SaaS applications and 3rd-party vendor management/implementation.
  • Design and lead high-impact initiatives end-to-end (scope/requirements, implementation, stakeholder/vendor/budget management).
  • Collaborate with IT vendors to develop robust IT support programs.
  • Manage IT Service Levels: Own operational metrics, SLAs, industry benchmarks; drive operational excellence.
  • Manage business partner satisfaction: Engage outbound to understand satisfaction or challenges with services provided.
  • Own IT Systems: Optimize core tools/systems such as Google Workspace, Okta, Atlassian, Zendesk, Slack.
  • Lead Software Optimization/Rationalization: Ensure software budget optimization.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance: Drive security/compliance projects protecting information assets.
  • Lead Innovation & Automation projects: Strategize and lead innovation projects improving user technology experiences.
  • Develop Operational Data Insights & Analytics: Analyze IT activities using multiple data sources; ensure performance via SLAs/analytics.
  • Lead Technical Support: Optimize employee support experience; create smooth hand-offs between Tier 1/2/3 support; establish best practices/processes for execution.
  • Excel at Team Management: Hire/develop global IT team; scale team significantly.
  • Excel at Exec Communication: Communicate clearly to Exec leadership about Core IT Services & Operations state/strategy.
  • Project Management:
  • Own full IT project lifecycle including budgetary/human resource management responsibilities.
  • Ensure customer needs are met by managing/coordinating IT deliverables including program/project plan structure, schedule, staffing requirements.

An ideal candidate has:

  • 8+ years in IT services/program management/technical support/systems role.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Experience with tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, Zoom etc.
  • Experience managing technical contracts for an IT department.
  • Understanding of vendor relationship management.
  • Proven success managing people/projects.
  • Expertise in IT systems/networks/operations/cloud systems.
  • Strong analytical/project management skills; ability to design/communicate clear processes; detail-oriented yet flexible problem solver.
  • Impeccable discretion handling sensitive/confidential information.
  • Excellent self-management/interpersonal skills.
  • Positive tenacious attitude delivering complex/challenging projects.
