Platform Engineer — Postgres Platform

What we do

ParadeDB is a transactional alternative to Elasticsearch built on Postgres. We build state-of-the-art full-text search and columnar analytics as a Postgres extension. Companies like Modern Treasury, BILT Rewards, Alibaba Cloud, and UnifyGTM use ParadeDB to:

  • Eliminate ETL/change data capture tools
  • Add transactional guarantees to their search indexes
  • Perform JOINs on their search data

We're a small, focused team of engineers dedicated to creating an inclusive and enjoyable work environment. We’re distributed across the United States and Canada. We are a Series A company with a flat structure, strong investors, and lots of room for growth.

What we want

We’re looking for an infrastructure engineer to join our team full-time. The ideal candidate should have:

  • A solid foundation in cloud infrastructure/architecture and Kubernetes
  • Experience working with Kubernetes in a production environment (bonus points if you have experience working with CloudNativePG or Neon)
  • Experience operating Postgres in a production environment (bonus point if you have experience working with Postgres features like logical replication and backups)
  • Proficiency in infrastructure tooling like Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, YAML, Bash/Python, etc.
  • Experience engaging with customers directly in a solutions engineering/SRE-type role or working on a Bring-Your-Own-Cloud type of solution
  • Experience supporting customers in a production environment
  • Experience building robust CI/CD pipelines for continuous benchmarking, testing, and releasing
  • Proficiency in cloud programming with Go
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch-type workloads or analytical databases is a plus

What you've done

You have meaningful experience operating Postgres in production, whether through a previous job or through a high-quality open-source project You have prior experience working with Kubernetes, building complex infrastructure with Terraform, and managing complex deployment pipelines (bonus points if you have contributions to an open-source project that you can showcase) You have prior experience working in a solutions engineering or SRE role getting hands-on helping customers with software infrastructure deployments directly within their own cloud environment You have prior experience working in a devOps engineering role implement robust infrastructure for fast-moving engineering teams with demanding requirements You have prior experience at a small, high-performing startup Overall, you’re smart, willing to work hard, communicative, and open to learning about any service or framework you may not have worked with before
