Platform Engineer — Postgres Platform
What we do
ParadeDB is a transactional alternative to Elasticsearch built on Postgres. We build state-of-the-art full-text search and columnar analytics as a Postgres extension. Companies like Modern Treasury, BILT Rewards, Alibaba Cloud, and UnifyGTM use ParadeDB to:
- Eliminate ETL/change data capture tools
- Add transactional guarantees to their search indexes
- Perform JOINs on their search data
We're a small, focused team of engineers dedicated to creating an inclusive and enjoyable work environment. We’re distributed across the United States and Canada. We are a Series A company with a flat structure, strong investors, and lots of room for growth.
What we want
We’re looking for an infrastructure engineer to join our team full-time. The ideal candidate should have:
- A solid foundation in cloud infrastructure/architecture and Kubernetes
- Experience working with Kubernetes in a production environment (bonus points if you have experience working with CloudNativePG or Neon)
- Experience operating Postgres in a production environment (bonus point if you have experience working with Postgres features like logical replication and backups)
- Proficiency in infrastructure tooling like Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, YAML, Bash/Python, etc.
- Experience engaging with customers directly in a solutions engineering/SRE-type role or working on a Bring-Your-Own-Cloud type of solution
- Experience supporting customers in a production environment
- Experience building robust CI/CD pipelines for continuous benchmarking, testing, and releasing
- Proficiency in cloud programming with Go
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch-type workloads or analytical databases is a plus

- You have meaningful experience operating Postgres in production, whether through a previous job or through a high-quality open-source project
- You have prior experience working with Kubernetes, building complex infrastructure with Terraform, and managing complex deployment pipelines (bonus points if you have contributions to an open-source project that you can showcase)
- You have prior experience working in a solutions engineering or SRE role getting hands-on helping customers with software infrastructure deployments directly within their own cloud environment
- You have prior experience working in a devOps engineering role implement robust infrastructure for fast-moving engineering teams with demanding requirements
- You have prior experience at a small, high-performing startup
Overall, you’re smart, willing to work hard, communicative, and open to learning about any service or framework you may not have worked with before.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain the ParadeDB Bring-Your-Own-Cloud platform by implementing features centered around Kubernetes, Postgres operations like backups and replication, Terraform and cloud APIs, and more
- Develop deployment, monitoring, and testing infrastructure around the ParadeDB database product and the ParadeDB BYOC product
- Directly interface with customers to assist in their initial release and in the on-going maintenance of their ParadeDB deployment(s)
- Develop and maintain documentation, including API references and user guides
- Engage directly with our customers and open-source community on GitHub and Slack
- Contribute to technical writing, product demos, and content marketing
- Help shape ParadeDB's product roadmap and technical direction
