Job Description

Platform Lead - AI Engineer

Storylane has been crushing it since we launched in 2021 (3.5x revenue growth in 2023, 2.5x in 2024). In 2025, we scaled to $10M ARR and 4,000 customers, and we’re building fast with a lean, remote team. We've got Gong, Amazon, Microsoft, NASDAQ, and other major players using our demo automation platform. We are looking for platform lead — person who defines what RepX's engineering foundation looks like for the next two years. The decisions made in the next 12 months will be crucial to the product's success.

What's expected

  • You have minimum 5 years of experience building backend systems, and proficiency in Python and AWS systems.
  • You have a strong background in computer science with a degree in CS or a related field.
  • You have a solid understanding of how to deliver complex backend applications considering performance, design and scale.
  • You write code and ship it to production. Your architecture opinions are earned by building, not by reviewing from the sidelines.
  • You communicate updates or solutions clearly to customers, product leads and teammates.
  • You own key roadmap items end-to-end - from technical approach through to delivery - and are accountable for the timelines and platform performance.
  • You own the hardest problems in RepX - agent orchestration, real-time conversation state, etc.
  • You work in direct partnership with the product owner. They bring customer context, market signal, and prioritization. You bring technical feasibility, system design, and the instinct for what's possible that nobody asked for yet. The loop is tight and continuous.
  • You think in platforms, not features. You watch patterns in agent failures and turn that into platform work that fixes the problem for all customers.
  • You stay current on AI and agentic engineering - new model capabilities, context engineering patterns, eval frameworks, function-calling architectures. The ground shifts monthly. You read, prototype, and bring what's relevant back to the team.
  • You raise the bar for everyone shipping code into RepX. Not through process - through the standard your own work sets.

What we're looking for

  • Platform thinking.
  • You've built platforms or shared infrastructure for scale in the teams you've worked at. You know when an abstraction earns its complexity and when it's premature.
  • Engineering depth and product instincts - together.
  • Technical brilliance disconnected from the product is not useful here. Product intuition that can't execute isn't either.
  • You ship.
  • You write code, you push to production, you're in the weeds.

Nice-to-haves (not required)

  • Experience with LLMs and agent architectures where language models are core components.
  • Familiarity with LiveKit/WebRTC, Deepgram/Whisper STT, Cartesia/ElevenLabs TTS, Tavus or similar video avatar platforms, Pinecone/vector databases.
