What You Will Do:
- Own end-to-end quality assurance for one or more Proton products from feature inception to release.
- Design and execute test plans covering functional, regression, exploratory, and edge-case scenarios.
- Identify usability issues, inconsistencies, and privacy risks before production.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers to catch issues early.
- Document bugs clearly and follow through to resolution with engineering.
- Contribute to and maintain automated test suites to reduce manual effort.
- Perform risk-based testing focusing on privacy, data integrity, and security behavior.
- Help define and improve QA processes, standards, and best practices.
- Participate in release readiness reviews with clear go/no-go recommendations.
- Stay updated on new testing techniques, tools, and industry trends.
What We Are Looking For:
3–5 years of hands-on QA experience on consumer-facing software products with large diverse user base. Strong manual testing skills: writing test plans, executing rigorously, reporting findings clearly. Experience with functional and non-functional testing including performance, security, and privacy considerations. Familiarity with test automation concepts and basic scripting (Python, Bash or similar). Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and QA role in fast-moving development workflows. Comfortable using bug tracking/test management tools like Jira or Testmo. Experience with Git version control; fit for open-source collaborative environment. Sensitivity to privacy/security issues; knowledge of privacy-by-design principles is a plus. Sharp attention to detail; structured and methodical approach. Effective communicator in remote-friendly international teams. Passion for quality open-source software protecting people.
