Role Summary:
- Key member of Data Engineering team managing data lifecycle from ingestion to high-quality models.
- Bridge technical systems and business needs to build a better data platform.
- Recent improvements include data catalog, observability, medallion architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Build and manage business data pipelines and transform Firefox telemetry data into reliable datasets.
- Partner with data scientists, product, marketing teams to create models and metrics for decision-making.
- Monitor data quality using observability tools and participate in weekly triage rotation for issues.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve platform workflows.
- Ensure implementation and enforcement of data governance and privacy policies.
Qualifications / What You’ll Bring:
- Minimum 4 years professional experience in data engineering.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python; interest in integrating AI into workflows.
- Experience in data modeling mapping complex business processes into analytical models with incremental delivery approach.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals producing modular, reusable, performant code at scale.
- Self-directed execution with project ownership from start to finish.
- Strong communication skills for distributed team collaboration across time zones.
Preferred Skills / Interests:
- Recommending and implementing new data collection methods to improve model quality.
- Using data to answer questions and guide decisions.
- Experience with cloud distributed systems (Google Cloud Platform), distributed databases, message queues, batch/stream processing.
- Ensuring dependable data through orchestration, error handling, idempotency.
