Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Devens, MA Department: Corporate Operations – Operations - Manufacturing Employment Type: Full-time, On-site About the Role:
- Provide technical expertise during commissioning, implementation, and integration of manufacturing equipment
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide solutions for efficient equipment operation
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes and improve equipment performance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve quality
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues
- Ensure compliance with all safety requirements
- Work with external vendors and suppliers for timely delivery of equipment and materials
- Conceptualize and detail new manufacturing equipment for scaled-up processes
- Run experiments to test feasibility of new manufacturing processes and translate learnings into practical designs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years mechanical engineering experience focused on manufacturing equipment
- 5+ years experience in manufacturing equipment and tooling design
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, motion control
- Experience with 3D CAD packages and 2D drawings
- Experience with FAT and SAT of equipment
- Understanding of GD&T application
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with commissioning and startup of manufacturing equipment
Bonus Points:
- Experience developing manufacturing equipment/tooling for novel processes
- Experience with production ramp-up and process optimization
- Experience with automated equipment and robotics
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Activities include typing, standing, stooping, sitting for extended periods
- Willingness to occasionally travel or work nights/weekends/on-call
- Dedication to safety regarding hazards such as heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, cryogenics
Compensation & Benefits: Salary Range: $110,000 - $185,000 per year (depends on level/location/qualifications/experience) plus equity and benefits including:
