Senior Principal Systems Development Engineer - Job Description Role Overview:

Work on complex system requirements combining hardware and software systems design.
Design and develop electronic, electro-mechanical, or systems-oriented products.
Conduct feasibility studies on engineering proposals.
Prepare installation, operation, and maintenance specifications and instructions.
Deliver programs and products to high quality standards, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced root cause analysis (RCA), performance optimization, configuration tuning, and long-term stability improvements.
Address critical customer issues through Customer Engineering escalations.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware/software issues using advanced tools and methodologies.
Conduct detailed RCA and provide actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams for collaborative problem-solving.
Design and implement intelligent automation solutions leveraging AI and emerging agentic technologies to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership across the organization.

Essential Requirements:

12+ years in software/hardware engineering (or equivalent).
Deep expertise in one or more of the following:
Object storage, NAS (Network Attached Storage)
Linux/BSD operating systems
Networking and protocol stacks (SMB, NFS, etc.)
Filesystems
Analytics, observability, and data science
Work model: 5 days a week onsite with weekend work on a rotational basis (comp days provided), occasional early/late shifts, and overtime as needed.

Desirable Requirements:

Proficiency in Java, C, Python, and scripting.
Proven experience developing automation frameworks and applying AI/agentic tools to drive operational efficiency and scalability.
