About the Role
Truework, recently acquired by Checkr, provides access to crucial employment and income information needed for mortgage loans, apartment rentals, background checks, and more. It disrupts a $5B+ industry dominated by legacy incumbents with a better product and intense customer focus. Truework operates independently within Checkr allowing rapid iteration while leveraging core business strengths. The platform is used by 8 of the top 10 mortgage lenders in the US. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Truework team you will help develop and maintain this platform. Engineers at Checkr take ownership of all aspects of product development from leading projects to collaborating with sales and marketing teams on launching products. The work is mostly backend-oriented but candidates from full stack, backend, QA engineers, SREs etc. are considered if they meet requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Solve problems and deliver high-quality solutions independently with minimal oversight
- Bring a customer-centric, product-oriented mindset; collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders
- Partner with engineering, product, design teams to design and architect new features
- Validate customer needs through experimentation; ship rapid MVPs
- Insist on quality as a critical pillar of software deliverables
- Use data-driven approaches to instrument and deploy new product experiments
- Deliver performant, reliable, scalable, secure code supporting Truework’s scale
- Monitor and resolve production issues for team-owned services
What you bring:
- 5+ years software development experience
- Bachelor degree or equivalent education/training
- Proficiency in Python and Javascript (or similar languages/frameworks)
- Experience developing RESTful APIs
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Strong sense of ownership from feature design through production release
- Desire to collaborate with external stakeholders
- Eagerness to learn, collaborate, improve, innovate, have fun
- A-player mindset with bias for action: raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity
