Snowflake technical writers work with a world-class team to create product documentation for Snowflake's industry-leading Data Cloud. This position is a hybrid role and is required to be in either our Bellevue, WA or Menlo Park, CA office location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create online guides, reference docs, and tutorials for technical audiences (SQL engineers, application developers, etc).
  • Engage directly with product managers, software engineers, and UI designers to ensure all features, enhancements, and changes are fully documented.
  • Work with release engineers and dev ops to deliver weekly product updates and documentation.
  • Work with support engineers and customer success managers to help drive customer engagement and adoption, which may include:
  • Contributing to Knowledge Base articles and Community questions.
  • Authoring and editing technical blog posts.
  • Developing training materials, implementation guides,migration guides,best practices,and FAQs.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years creating technical product documentation from scratch,

as well as from specs.

  • Strong SQL and RDBMS skills (Oracle,Teredata,

Redshift, SQL Server, etc); comfortable working with sample code.

  • Exposure to usingand documenting any ofthe following securityand governance technologies:
  • Identityand Access Management (SSO,

OAuth, MFA, RBAC, SCIM, etc)

  • Networkingand Private Connectivity (AWS PrivateLink,

Azure Private Link, Google Cloud Private Service Connect)

  • Governance (data masking/tokenization for column-level security,

row-level security, data classificationand anonymization, etc)

  • Additional topics (data encryption,auditing,

complianceand regulatory standards)

  • In-depth knowledge ofthe content development lifecycle,

inclusiveof:

  • Identifyingand understandingthe information needs ofthe audience.
  • Gathering information,

interviewing SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), and conducting research.

  • Authoring,publishing,and managing online/web content.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiaritywith:
  • ETL/ELTand BI technologies.
  • Cloud computing platforms (AWS,

Microsoft Azure, GCP).

  • Programming languages/APIs (Python,

JavaScript, Java, Go,C#/.NET).

  • Big Data analytics,machine learning,and statistics (Spark ,Scala ,R).
  • Database drivers/connectors (JDBC ,ODBC).
  • Exposureto:
  • CI/CD methodologiesand technologies (Jenkins ,Lambda).
  • Open-source platformsand authoring/publishing toolsfor a "Docs-as-Code" approach (Git ,RST/Sphinx ,Markdown ,DITA XML).
