Senior UX Design Engineer, Design Systems

Company: Greenhouse Location: British Columbia (candidates must be based in BC or Ontario) Role Summary:

• Join Greenhouse's central Design System team as a Senior UX Design Engineer.
• Act as the implementation layer between design intent and production code.
• Support triad feature teams (Product, Design, Engineering) by converting UI work into reusable, production-grade system capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain production-grade components and patterns with accessibility and interaction fidelity.
• Own a single documentation source of truth for Design and Engineering with clear APIs and examples.
• Set contribution standards to keep the design system the default across product teams.
• Partner with engineering to deliver implementation-ready patterns, reducing handoff loops and bespoke UI work.
• Champion design system adoption and enhance product through motion, interaction design, and brand moments.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in front-end or UX engineering with strong component architecture skills; React + TypeScript preferred.
• Working knowledge of AI development tools (e.g., Claude, MCP, Code Sandbox).
• Solid understanding of accessibility best practices (WCAG) demonstrated in shipped work.
• Experience with design tokens, layout systems, interaction states, visual and interaction design interest.
• Documentation-first approach enabling self-service by teams.
• Demonstrated experience shipping design systems at other organizations (practical experience required).
• Experience with Storybook or similar component documentation tools is a plus.
• Visual regression testing, CI quality gates, and design token pipeline experience are pluses.

Additional Information:

• Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada; no sponsorship available currently.
• National pay range: $105,800 - $158,800 CAD; compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications; potential for stock options, bonuses, merit increases, sales commissions depending on role.
