• Work on features impacting thousands of customers globally.
• Collaborate with internal teams and product teams to build features.
• Improve UX of the Retool core editor, including technical challenges like drag-and-drop performance.
• Expand application types across development processes.
• Debug customer issues and build features (e.g., Google Sheets integration improvements).
• Help recruit future engineers.
• Increase scalability of the platform (frontend performance, query latency reduction).

Technical Environment:

• Primarily JavaScript and TypeScript, Node.js backend, React frontend.

• Close collaboration with product and design teams.

Role Responsibilities:

• Improve UX of core editor with technical and design challenges.
• Build diverse applications in development process.

Required Skillset:

• 3+ years professional software development experience, preferably in startups.
• Experience owning technically challenging cross-functional projects.
• Full stack experience (backend to frontend).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Ability to make quick technical decisions involving stakeholders.
• Customer-first mindset with interest in customer interactions.
• Habit of introspection for personal success improvement.

Nice to Have:

• JavaScript / TypeScript experience.
• PostgreSQL experience.
• Mentoring experience and close work with designers.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base salary range: $163,800 – $306,000 per year (U.S.-based candidates).
• Additional compensation may include equity or commission depending on role.
