Job Description

Software Engineer Intern, Developer Tools (2026) (London, United Kingdom)

Figma is growing its team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether brainstorming, creating prototypes, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. The company empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and collaborate in real time from anywhere in the world. Figma is seeking Software Engineering interns to join the Developer Tools pillar. The DevTools team focuses on streamlining the entire development lifecycle from design handoff to production, enabling frontend engineers to move faster and deliver higher quality products. The team builds systems that connect design intent with real-world codebases, making it easier for developers to find, understand, and translate designs into production code—especially by leveraging AI. Interns will work on tools such as:

  • Dev Mode: for inspecting and collaborating on design intent
  • Code Connect: for mapping design to real code in codebases
  • MCP server: powers AI-assisted translation of designs into production-ready code

Interns will gain hands-on experience with the tech stack including:

  • TypeScript
  • React/Redux
  • WebAssembly

What you’ll do at Figma:

  • Contribute to Dev Mode, Figma's leading tool for dev/design collaboration, working on technical projects aligned with team goals
  • Collaborate with engineers, PMs, designers, and QA to break down features and plan timelines
  • Build, document, and maintain tests, features, or infrastructure
  • Share feedback and participate in peer code review
  • Ship your project(s) by the end of your internship!

Past intern projects:

  • Diagramming Improvements in FigJam
  • Smart selection
  • Shared fonts

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience writing clean code in at least one general-purpose language (e.g., C++, JavaScript, React, Python)
  • Comfort with core CS concepts like data structures and algorithms
  • Experience working on projects through school, work or personal exploration that required solving technical problems
  • Excitement about exploring how systems are designed and operate—from infrastructure to UI
  • Good communication skills; ability to ask great questions and collaborate well with others
  • Enthusiasm for learning, receiving feedback, and growing as an engineer

Figma values "Grow as you go"—they encourage applicants even if past experience doesn’t perfectly align with the job description.
