Role Overview:
- Hiring a Solutions Engineer in Europe as the technical backbone of GTM motion from demo to go-live and beyond.
- Dual-focus role: primarily pre-sales (help prospects evaluate Lago) and secondarily post-sales (ensure customers reach production and see value).
- Work closely with AE team, co-founders, and product to shape deals and guide implementations.
- Role requires deep technical and commercial understanding to customize demos and configurations for each customer.
Key responsibilities include: Pre-sales:
- Technical discovery calls on pricing models, billing infrastructure, integration needs.
- Lead bespoke product demos tailored to prospect use cases.
- Manage technical evaluations and cloud trials end-to-end.
- Write deal debriefs capturing risks and next steps.
- Address product gaps creatively with engineering collaboration.
- Produce competitive technical analysis and maintain battle cards.
- Partner with AEs on commercial strategy.
Post-sales:
- Lead onboarding for engineering teams (API integration) and finance/ops teams (plan configuration).
- Primary technical contact through implementation until go-live.
- Proactive check-ins to unblock customers and prevent issues.
- Identify expansion/optimization opportunities in accounts.
- Partner with Customer Success/Support for smooth handoff after go-live.
- Provide feedback to Product/Engineering on implementation pain points.
Candidate profile:
- Strong technical generalist comfortable with APIs, debugging webhooks, explaining technical details to finance executives.
- Natural deal-shaper who removes technical blockers to close deals.
- Writes thorough post-call debriefs proactively.
- Comfortable with ambiguity; finds solutions that keep deals alive.
- Curious about billing/pricing system nuances like metering, aggregation, invoicing, revenue recognition.
- Proactive about tooling/process improvements via scripting or automation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in Solutions Engineering or similar roles in developer tools/API-first/infrastructure SaaS companies.
- Strong foundation in REST APIs, JSON, SQL; experience with complex evaluations/POCs for enterprise or mid-market clients.
- Excellent English communication; French is a plus for European accounts.
- Experience collaborating closely with AEs/founders in fast sales environments.
- Ability to manage multiple deals/implementations simultaneously.
Nice to have:
- Experience with billing, usage-based pricing, fintech or revenue infrastructure
- Scripting skills (Python, bash, JS)
- Post-sales implementation or customer success engineering background
- Exposure to open-source products or developer communities
- Experience presenting to engineering and finance/executive audiences
