Staff Software Engineer, Integrations:
Powering Strategic Integrations for a Secure Software Supply Chain
The role, in a nutshell:
At Chainguard, Partnership Engineering is the connective tissue between our internal platform and product teams and the external ecosystem that drives our growth. We build and maintain the integrations that make our products visible, consumable, and verifiable across a wide range of partner platforms and tools. That includes integrating with Cloud Marketplaces (GCP, AWS, Azure), working with software vendors to onboard and support Chainguards offerings, and verifying compatibility with vulnerability scanners and observability tools. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Partnership Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous problem spaces, can independently navigate complex technical landscapes, and wants to directly influence how Chainguard products integrate with the broader security and cloud ecosystem. Youll operate as a technical deobfuscater, a problem solver, and a key interface with our partners, owning critical pieces of infrastructure and acting as a multiplier across our internal teams. This role sits at the heart of our mission to build a safer software supply chain by making integrations seamless, reliable, and secure.
What youll do:
- Designing and developing technical integrations that connect Chainguard products to partner platforms such as cloud marketplaces, vulnerability scanners, and observability providers.
- Building and maintaining our security advisory system, including schemas, APIs, and data feeds such as OSV and secdb.
- Owning integrations with major cloud platforms, including GCP, AWS, and Azure, with a focus on areas like mirroring, IAM, and proxying.
- Supporting a wide array of integration targets, from VMs and containers to libraries, ensuring compatibility with vulnerability scanners and other security tools.
- Working closely with external partners acting as a technical influencer and helping them adopt and verify their support for Chainguards products, while also building internal infrastructure to ensure correctness and compliance.
- Collaborating with internal teams to scope and support integration needs for product launches and new initiatives.
- Acting as a force multiplier by mentoring peers, improving team processes, and guiding architectural decisions.
- Driving long-term projects (6+ months), independently or with small teams, and delivering scalable, well-architected solutions.
- Build and maintain agentic, AI-powered workflows that connect Chainguards products with the tools our customers already use, so security automation fits naturally into their existing environments.
What we're looking for:
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience
- Comfortable working and thriving within a Linux ecosystem
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity, take ownership of poorly-defined problems, and drive toward effective, scalable solutions.
- Proficiency in at least one of the major cloud platforms (preferably AWS or Azure)
- Experience building APIs and data pipelines, particularly for security data or integrations with third-party systems.
- Deep knowledge of system architecture and design principles, with the ability to balance trade-offs and influence technical direction.
Additionally:
- Software development skills in Golang
- Solid understanding of security tooling and standards, especially vulnerability scanning and advisory formats like OSV.
- Bonus: Experience with partner-facing roles, ISV integrations, or marketplace certification processes.
