Role Overview:

  • Staff Level Systems Integration Engineer for the Quantum Networking team.
  • Focus on integrating theoretical research with applied engineering to build advanced quantum networking systems.
  • Requires at least 10 years of experience in cross-disciplinary system integration and test, hardware-focused software engineering, and systems engineering including verification and validation processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with physicists to translate research into system requirements and specifications.
  • Develop verification and validation test plans aligned with scientific understanding.
  • Oversee subsystem integration and system-level testing; refine protocols based on research findings.
  • Develop/manage key performance parameters; provide documentation and engineering support from empirical data.
  • Lead data-driven trade studies for design/material selection using academic research.
  • Work hands-on in hardware-in-loop environments to validate hardware functionality, performance, reliability.
  • Design, deploy, manage automated testing and deployment processes.
  • Develop Graphical User Interfaces for advanced hardware control and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or related field with interdisciplinary system design experience.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant development experience including complex hardware/software integration leading to production readiness.
  • Experience managing complete development cycles increasing technology readiness levels.
  • Hardware-focused software development experience including test scripting, telemetry monitoring, instrumentation for remote operation.
  • Familiarity with embedded software programming and FPGA development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Engineering or related field.
  • Extensive system design/assembly experience in high precision technology fields.
  • Proven ability to translate scientific research into engineering tasks/projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, Java, MATLAB or similar languages used in scientific/engineering development.
  • Excellent communication/data visualization skills bridging ideation and practical engineering.
  • Proficiency in technical performance tracking; familiarity with engineering tool suites/model-based practices.
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification or similar preferred.
  • Experience with hardware performance monitoring/telemetry streaming platforms like Grafana.
  • Experience programming/automating instrumentation/control systems; GUI development for hardware control/troubleshooting; embedded software design/programming; FPGA development.
  • Solid understanding of configuration management/source code management systems.

Compensation:

Approximate base salary range $151,756 - $198,688 plus bonus, equity, benefits.
