Territory Account Executive

Since 2009, Square has evolved from enabling payments to building integrated omnichannel solutions for sellers, including online sales, inventory management, buy now pay later, appointments, loyalty engagement, and staff hiring and payment. Financial services tools are embedded at the point of sale for loans and cash flow management. Afterpay extends omnichannel tools to capture next-generation shoppers and increase order sizes. Square serves sellers of all sizes, from startups to enterprise-scale businesses.

The Role

Square is building a high-impact field sales organization and seeks a Territory Account Executive who exceeds expectations, owns their territory fully, and brings Square’s mission of economic empowerment to businesses. This is a field-driven role requiring most time spent in the market meeting businesses, conducting demos, and closing deals. The role involves building pipeline from scratch, elevating Square’s visibility locally, establishing partnerships, and helping local businesses grow with Square’s software and hardware ecosystem.

You will:

  • Lead your market with disciplined in-person execution:
  • Spend ~80% of your week in the field visiting 50–60 targeted businesses weekly.
  • Run full-cycle self-sourced sales: lead generation, needs identification, demos, closing deals across Square’s product suite.
  • Establish yourself as the go-to Square expert locally:
  • Build trust-based relationships with local sellers.
  • Partner cross-functionally for seamless onboarding and fast seller value.
  • Use referral strategies to turn customers into future opportunities.
  • Build a high-velocity pipeline from the ground up:
  • Develop top-of-funnel engine via door-to-door outreach, community events, networking, partnerships.
  • Work with channel partners for consistent referral streams.
  • Master verticals and sell with precision:
  • Gain expertise in key verticals like restaurants, retail, services.
  • Diagnose challenges and position appropriate Square solutions consultatively.
  • Achieve exceptional results in a high-accountability environment:
  • Maintain operational rigor in Salesforce: track activity, pipeline management, forecasting.
  • Measure performance frequently and improve continuously.
  • Consistently exceed quota within a high-standard culture.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years full-cycle closing sales experience with field sales background.
  • Proven record exceeding sales targets selling diverse products and closing complex deals.
  • Ability to independently drive deals in fast-paced environments.
  • Business development experience including hunting and cold calling.
  • Reliable transportation and residence in the served market (field position).
  • Collaborative team player mentality.
  • Prior Salesforce or equivalent CRM experience.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years payment processing or related tech (payroll, loyalty, time management).
  • 1+ years relevant audience experience (selling to restaurants, retailers or service businesses).

Compensation:

Market-based pay varies by location zone (A-D) with ranges including target variable compensation:

  • Zone A: $148,700 - $223,100
  • Zone B: $138,300 - $207,500
  • Zone C: $130,900 - $196,300
  • Zone D: $123,400 - $185,200
