Since 2009, Square has evolved from payment processing to building integrated omnichannel solutions for sellers, including online sales, inventory management, buy now pay later, appointments, loyalty programs, and staff hiring and payment. Square embeds financial services tools at the point of sale to help merchants access loans and manage cash flow. Afterpay extends these omnichannel tools to capture next-generation shoppers and increase order sizes.
The Role
Square is building a high-impact field sales organization and seeks a Territory Account Executive who exceeds expectations, owns their territory fully, and brings economic empowerment to businesses. This field-driven role involves spending most of the week in the market meeting businesses, conducting demos, and closing deals. The role requires strategic and decisive operation in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
- Build pipeline from scratch
- Elevate Square’s visibility in the community
- Establish high-value partnerships
- Help local businesses grow using Square’s software and hardware ecosystem
You Will
Lead your market with disciplined, in-person execution
- Spend ~80% of time in the field visiting 50–60 targeted businesses weekly
- Run full-cycle sales: lead generation, needs identification, demos, closing deals across Square’s products
Establish yourself as the go-to Square expert
- Build trust-based relationships with local sellers
- Partner cross-functionally for seamless onboarding and fast value delivery
- Implement referral strategies to generate future opportunities
Build a high-velocity pipeline
- Use door-to-door outreach, community engagement, events, networking, partnerships
- Work with channel partners for consistent referral streams
Master verticals and sell with precision
- Develop expertise in restaurants, retail, services verticals
- Diagnose challenges and position appropriate Square solutions
- Sell consultatively and competitively throughout sales cycle
Achieve exceptional results
- Maintain operational rigor in Salesforce: activity tracking, pipeline management, forecasting
- Measure performance frequently and improve continuously
- Consistently exceed quota in a high-standard culture
You Have
Required:
- 3+ years full-cycle closing sales experience with field sales
- Experience exceeding targets selling diverse products and closing complex deals
- Ability to drive deals independently in fast-paced environments
- Business development experience (hunting/cold calling)
- Reliable transportation; live in served market
- Collaborative team player mentality
- Prior Salesforce or equivalent experience
Preferred:
- 2+ years payment processing or related tech (payroll, loyalty, time management)
- 1+ years experience selling to restaurants, retailers or service-based businesses

Zone A: $148,700 - $223,100 Zone B: $138,300 - $207,500 Zone C: $130,900 - $196,300 Zone D: $123,400 - $185,200
